![]() James Sinclair Managing Partner ![]() James Sinclair is a Managing Partner with InterChina, and a co-chair of the company's Management Committee. At InterChina, he advises international companies on market development and market penetration strategies in China, as well as approaches to long-term profit protection. James is currently the leader of InterChina's Consumer & Retail Sector Group, with extensive experience in food & beverage in particular. He has lived and worked in China for the past 14 years. In his previous role, Mr. Sinclair was in charge of InterChina's Strategy Practice. Over the course of 5 years, he grew the practice to 20 consultants and to one of the premier strategy teams in China. He has supervised over 200 client projects across a variety of industrial and consumer sectors, and directly managed an additional 50. As an experienced problem solver and communicator, he is skilled in hypothesis-driven and fieldwork-based approaches to strategy development, and understands how to deliver practical solutions for China. Mr. Sinclair has co-authored a book on market entry, and is a frequent contributor to Chinese, American and European publications on strategic issues in China. Prior to joining InterChina in 2004, Mr. Sinclair worked as a consultant with a German management consultancy, first in Hong Kong and later Shanghai, where he was responsible for running their strategy team in East China. He also worked for a global M&A partnership, heading up their deal origination and company search services, again in East China. Before moving to China in 1997, Mr. Sinclair worked for a British consulting civil engineering firm in the United Kingdom. Mr. Sinclair is from the UK and is a fluent Mandarin speaker. He has a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Durham (UK) and a Masters in Chinese Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies (University of London, UK). He is based out of InterChina's Shanghai office. |
